Prompting for CAD
Get better parts out of agents.
Agents already know the CAD workflow — Cxddie's MCP server tells them to inspect, build, screenshot and save. Your job is to describe the part.
Give real dimensions
Model an L-bracket, 60×40 mm legs, 6 mm thick, 30 mm wide, with two Ø5 mm holes in each leg.
Numbers, units and hole sizes beat adjectives. Say which face is the base if it matters.
Ask it to look
Screenshot from iso and front and check the holes are centred.
Agents can see their work through screenshot. Asking for specific views catches mistakes early.
Ask for parameters
Make length, width, thickness and hole diameter top-level parameters.
Especially in code CAD, this keeps follow-up edits small and diffs readable.
Say what you want out
Save, then export STEP and STL.
Exports land in .cxddie/exports/ inside the workspace unless you give a path.
Explore with fan-out
When there's more than one reasonable design, fan out the prompt to several agents and compare, instead of iterating one agent through every idea.
