Install
Get Cxddie, a CAD tool and an agent onto your machine.
Download the app
Get the build for your system from the download page.
- macOS — open the
.dmgand drag Cxddie to Applications. Pick Apple Silicon or Intel (Apple menu → About This Mac → Chip). - Windows 10 / 11 — run
Cxddie-Setup-x64.exe. Terminals use PowerShell (PowerShell 7 if you have it) and missing tools install with winget. - Linux —
chmod +x Cxddie-x86_64.AppImageand run it.
Cxddie isn't code-signed yet, so the first launch needs one extra click:
- macOS says it can't verify the developer. Right-click Cxddie in Applications and choose Open, or click Open Anyway in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Windows SmartScreen may say it protected your PC. Click More info → Run anyway.
Updates
Cxddie checks for a new version when it starts and every few hours, and shows a card in the corner when there is one. Your version is at the right of the status bar; click it to check now.
- Windows and Linux — the update downloads in the background. Click Restart to update, or it installs the next time you quit.
- macOS — click Download to get the new
.dmg, then drag Cxddie to Applications to replace the old one. (Updates will install themselves once the app is signed.)
Install a CAD tool
You need at least one. Cxddie finds them in /Applications, under Program Files on Windows, or on your PATH. It can also install missing ones for you: the Install button in the new-workspace dialog runs Homebrew (macOS) or winget (Windows) in a Cxddie terminal.
| CAD system | macOS | Windows | Override |
|---|---|---|---|
| FreeCAD 1.x | brew install --cask freecad | winget install FreeCAD.FreeCAD | CXDDIE_FREECAD |
| Blender | brew install --cask blender | winget install BlenderFoundation.Blender | CXDDIE_BLENDER |
| OpenSCAD | brew install --cask openscad | winget install OpenSCAD.OpenSCAD | CXDDIE_OPENSCAD |
| CadQuery | brew install uv | winget install astral-sh.uv | CXDDIE_UV |
| build123d | brew install uv | winget install astral-sh.uv | CXDDIE_UV |
| Autodesk Fusion | brew install --cask autodesk-fusion | autodesk.com | CXDDIE_FUSION |
| Rhino 8 | brew install --cask rhino | rhino3d.com | CXDDIE_RHINO |
| Autodesk Revit | — | autodesk.com | CXDDIE_REVIT |
| SketchUp | brew install --cask sketchup | sketchup.com | CXDDIE_SKETCHUP |
| SolidWorks | — | solidworks.com | CXDDIE_SOLIDWORKS |
| AutoCAD | — | autodesk.com | CXDDIE_AUTOCAD |
CadQuery and build123d need only uv; the first session downloads the library. Fusion, Rhino, Revit, SketchUp, SolidWorks and AutoCAD need their own licenses and a one-time setup so Cxddie can reach their MCP servers.
Install an agent
Any of the supported agents. For example:
curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash # Claude Code (macOS / Linux)
irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iex # Claude Code (Windows PowerShell)
npm install -g @openai/codex # CodexAgain, Cxddie offers Install for agents it can't find.
Optional: git-lfs
If git-lfs is installed, Cxddie tracks binary CAD files (.FCStd, .blend, .f3d, .3dm) with LFS in new projects. On Windows, git-lfs comes with Git for Windows.
brew install git-lfs && git lfs install
