MCP tools
The six tools every agent gets, for every CAD system, plus the app's own.
cxddie-mcp exposes the same tools regardless of CAD system. Its server instructions and the run_code description are tailored to the workspace's CAD system (see each CAD page).
get_scene
List the objects in the active document or scene: name, label, type, visibility, bounding box and placement. For code CAD, the document and current size.
run_code
| Param | Type | |
|---|---|---|
code | string | Source to run |
- FreeCAD / Blender — runs Python inside the application, one undo step. Returns
print()output and the repr of a final expression. - OpenSCAD / CadQuery / build123d — replaces the model source with
codeand renders it. Pass""to re-render the file on disk. Returns output plus size, volume and bounding box. - Autodesk Fusion — runs a Fusion API Python script in the workspace's design, with
designandrootin scope. - Rhino — runs RhinoScript-Python in the workspace's document, with
rs,scandRhinoin scope. - Revit — runs C# as the body of a method with
document/docin scope, in one transaction.returna value to see it. - SketchUp — runs Ruby with
modelin scope. The value of the last expression comes back. - SolidWorks — runs Python over COM with
swanddocin scope. - AutoCAD — evaluates an AutoLISP expression.
Errors come back as tool errors, with a traceback where available. execute_python is a deprecated alias.
screenshot
| Param | Type | |
|---|---|---|
view | iso | front | top | right | left | back | bottom | Optional. Sets a standard view and fits everything; omit to keep the camera. |
width, height | integer, 64–4096 | Optional |
Returns a PNG image.
save

path | string | Optional. Save As. |
export
| Param | Type | |
|---|---|---|
format | step | ifc | stl | glb | obj | Required |
path | string | Optional. Defaults to <workspace>/.cxddie/exports/<document>.<ext> |
objects | string[] | Optional. Defaults to all visible top-level shapes. |
STEP requires a B-rep kernel: FreeCAD, CadQuery, build123d, Fusion, Rhino or SolidWorks. IFC, the BIM exchange format, comes from Revit, SolidWorks and SketchUp Pro. A session only accepts the formats it can write, and the tool's description lists them.
open_document
| Param | Type | |
|---|---|---|
path | string | CAD file to open and make active |
The app's own tools
Fusion, Rhino, Revit, SketchUp, SolidWorks and AutoCAD have their own MCP servers. Their other tools are offered next to the six above, prefixed with the CAD system, for example fusion_get_api_documentation or rhino_get_rhinoscript_docs. Cxddie makes the workspace's document active before each one runs.
