Troubleshooting
Fixes for common problems.
A CAD system or agent shows "Install" but it's installed
Cxddie looks in /Applications, under Program Files on Windows, and on your login shell's PATH. If yours lives elsewhere, set the environment variable (CXDDIE_FREECAD, CXDDIE_BLENDER, CXDDIE_OPENSCAD, CXDDIE_UV, CXDDIE_FUSION, CXDDIE_RHINO) or add it to the PATH in your shell profile, then restart Cxddie.
The agent doesn't see CAD tools
- Check the agent is in the connected list. Launch-only agents don't get
cxddie-mcp. - For file-configured agents (Gemini, Cursor, OpenCode…), a config file you track in git wins — Cxddie won't overwrite it. Add the
cxddieserver to it yourself. - Make sure the workspace's CAD session is running (status dot in the sidebar).
The 3D view doesn't update
The view reloads when the document is saved (FreeCAD, Blender), rendered (code CAD) or changed by run_code (app MCP systems such as Fusion, Rhino and Revit). AutoCAD drawings have no 3D view; use the Viewport tab. Ask the agent to save, or check the terminal for a run_code error.
"Couldn't reach …'s MCP server"
Cxddie launched the app but its MCP server didn't answer.
- Fusion: turn on the MCP server under Preferences → General → API, or install the Fusion MCP add-in. If Fusion shows a port other than 27182, set
CXDDIE_FUSION_MCP_URL. - Rhino: install rhinomcp from the Package Manager, run
mcpstartin Rhino, and make sure uv is installed. - Revit: open a project, click Revit MCP Switch on the Add-Ins tab, and make sure Node.js is installed.
- SketchUp: install the extension from its GitHub release (not the Extension Warehouse), choose Extensions → MCP Server → Start Server, and make sure uv is installed.
- SolidWorks: set
CXDDIE_SOLIDWORKS_MCPto the command that starts solidworks-mcp and restart Cxddie. - AutoCAD: make sure AutoCAD is running and uv is installed.
Then click Start again.
Agent arguments look mangled on Windows
Windows PowerShell 5.1 strips quotes inside arguments, which affects agents that take MCP settings as flags (Codex). Install PowerShell 7; Cxddie uses it automatically when it's installed.
CadQuery / build123d is slow to start
The first session downloads the library through uv. Later sessions start from uv's cache.
Keep this fails with "uncommitted changes"
The project's main checkout has uncommitted changes. Commit or stash them, then try again.
